Sharing practices

a series of workshops

In a series of workshops several artists will share the practices that underpin their artistic work. “Sharing practices” is conceived as a platform to bring togetherartists and people interested in learning more about theatre, dance, the body and art. It´s a field for new and old experiments together, a playground for artists and participants, a place to meet and exchange experiences.Attendance to the workshop is free of charge, but we invite participants to make a donation. “Sharing practices” will happen throughout the whole year. In this first block, these are the artists sharing:

Evoking Physical Metaphors

with Miro Wallner

Date: 20th & 21st of April 2024
Sat & Sun 10:00 – 17:30

The movements our body experience along our lives form notions that unconsciously become the way we interpret realities around us. Having multiple perspectives requires the challenge of these notions. This workshop proposes that we open ourselves to express and observe actions and feelings that govern our bodies in the play dynamics. It focuses on Physical Metaphor creation, using individual and group dynamics of improvisation, where movement evoking emotions and building tension is encouraged.

Rhythmic Nexus: Exploring Movement Principles Beyond Choreography

with Peti Costa & Safete Muchave

Date: 27th & 28th of April 2024
Sat & Sun 10:00 – 16:00

Exploring movement principles beyond traditional choreography, we will delve into the concept of pulsation as a foundation for compositions and games. In non-Western dance traditions, the term ‘choreography’ for collective dance is absent. Dancing together doesn’t demand uniformity; instead, it involves dances born from shared pulsations, emphasizing communication and playful interaction. This approach allows the narratives of the body to naturally unfold.

the search for tension in the aesthetic elements of the scene

with Mariana Senne

Date: 3rd, 4th & 5th of May 2024
Fri 18:00-21:00 / Sat 11:00-15:00 / Sun 11:00-15:00

The workshop aims to share three pillars of my research as a theatre-maker and actress with artists who are interested in thinking critically about one’s own creation. Over the three days we will work with the idea of performative gesture (the clarity of a point of view/ attitude), investigate connections between personal experience and larger social political structures and will work with the idea of a body that thinks out loud. The work will then be one of creating scenes and reflecting on what they mean and what they move.

groove decomposition

with Ruben Nsue

Date: 11th & 12th of May 2024
Sat & Sun 10:00 to 14:00

This project has evolved through a deep immersion in dance, music, and the primal connection between the two. Groove Decomposition finds its roots in the decolonization of my body and mind, a conceptual response to imposed dance techniques that have shaped and restricted my expression and the essence of my being over time. Groove Decomposition stands as an act of resistance, a fearless quest to restore authenticity and the innate connection between the body and rhythm.

ZONA 8

Zona 8 is a space dedicated to dance and performing arts; a place for reflection and study, where the political aspects of human existence can be investigated in the encounter between bodies and where differences are seen as a potential for continuous processes of discussion and transformation. It is a space that aims to encourage creation, resistance, continuity, and questioning of the Eurocentric perspective on dance and dance production. Zona 8 is run by members of Grupo Oito.
